Listening to Fannie Mae’s (FNM) conference call this afternoon, I heard a stark warning to borrowers: If you can afford to pay your mortgage, but choose to walk away – you will not get a Fannie Mae mortgage in the future. However, those homeowners that can no longer afford their loans might be reconsidered for Fannie loans in the future. Fannie is instituting a moral hazard.
