Admittedly, I was surprised by Barack Obama’s resounding victory in Iowa and strong polling in New Hampshire. I congratulate him. I have never been to an Obama rally, but I assume that he must be conveying far more passion then I see on TV. He even showed a sense of arrogance at the ABC Saturday night debate, and disrespect for Hillary Clinton.
After hearing the monotony of endless calls for change, without any details, I decided to investigate Obama’s website. You must register first, before any details are revealed. I also visited John Edwards website – no registration required. I had been to Hillary before.
You know by now my passion for guaranteed issue health insurance. All three candidates support guaranteed issue and some form of choice between governments plans, such as Medicare, and private insurance. There is also talk of employer play or pay in all plans and raising taxes to subsidize individuals to purchase insurance. The plans are more alike than different. Clinton and Edwards require mandatory coverage for all; Obama requires mandatory coverage only for children.
This biggest difference between the candidates is where you believe healthcare fits in their priorities. Hillary’s passion for healthcare is unquestionable. She said it is her top domestic priority. Edward’s speaks about healthcare with passion, but never tells us when it will be accomplished. Obama gives us neither passion nor a timetable. Place your bets.
Call for Passion (aka Change Now!)
